Pre-Ramadhan Jaunts

It has been a busy time for us. Mother came over on the 12th, to be joined by Azlan on the 15th. To make the best of the time that we had before Ramadhan, we were out nearly every day to the shopping areas and also short visits to Al-Ain. We had also met up with Guy and family at Wafi for a swim and dinner and Planet Hollywood. The food was surprisingly good, a pleasant surprise!

Family shot+1. Jaydyn wanted to come in on the shot and we were more than happy to oblige! The shots were taken on Guys Nikon thus the really sharp picture as opposed to the normal shots taken from the nokia!

After mum turned up, we took her to the Polo Club in the evening. Nothing like some fresh air to get the jet lag out of the system.

The usual suspects. Its is the height of summer, but once the sun goes down, it becomes sane again to come out and play. On that day, the wind was up and that made it pretty nice. Also perhaps we are getting acclimatised to the weather. 38C is considered 'cold', well relatively la. For mum, it was hot!

The kids under the tent, with the dad's too keeping company. The Polo Club has a pony ride deal during the weekend that we have yet to take advantage of.

When Azlan turned up, one the first things that we did was to take him out to the old part of town. We wanted to show all parts of Dubai, the new and the old. This shot was taken by Irsyad. A little off, but not too bad an effort taking into account the fact that we were on the pavement.

A better shot of the pretty much the same thing. The kids are so excited having the extended family around!

After crossing the creek, unfortunately no photos as busy holding tight to the kids, we came up to the old souq. The air was warm and stuff, but nothing to hold back seasoned shoppers.

A family Dubai trip would not be complete without a visit to Wafi. Dinas new vest was a tad large for her, or perhaps, she is a little small for the vest! Anyhow, she kept slipping under the water and we had to stick her up the blow up board!

A late night visit to Dragon Mart meant that the kids were pretty tired, espeacially after the swim at Wafi. So at the first oppurtunity that they got, they tried out the plush carpets on the shop floor.

A late evening drive to Al-Ain resulted in Linda not wanting us to drive up the Jabel Hafeet mountain, so we just ended up at Green Mubazarrah park at the foot of Hafeet. The hot water springs were really hot! But the view was really nice.

The road to the top of Jabel Haffet is at the background of this shot. I read that the road has been classified as one of the best driving sites in the world. Actually, I did not find it that much more challenging than Genting Highlands drive. Perhaps people on the way up to Genting have other things on their mind than the drive.

Azlan wanted some Arabic history, so we took him to Ibn Batuta Mall. Not as good as the museum perhaps, but it gave a good mixture of education and shopping! He was not complaining after getting a real good deal on some jeans.
