Living a Malaysian Life

N25

So finally after a very long wait we got our new house allocation, N25. Thus after the end of my standby at 1600, we packed up the kids in the car and drove the very long 47km. We used the Dubai Bypass Road which is a lot longer to the new housing area at Al Waha. On the way back, stuck to the Emirates Road and it was around 34km only. Looks like we know which highway to take from now on.

A two car porch, but it has this funny poles at the side that makes parking a second car an effort. The front door was locked, but we jumped across the gate and entered through the back door that was open.

Its still very far from ready, with tiles out in the kitchen and the maids room and maintenance workers stuff in the store room. The email from accommodation department mentioned that we can collect the keys from tomorrow onwards, but by the look of things, I suspect we will only be able to move by the end of the month, earliest. Thats actually a good thing as the new place still does not have phone or internet connection.

A lot smaller hall and dining compared to the current place, but at least we can have an outside breakfast nook for meals ourside, during the winter months obviously.

The garden is a real funny shape, big with regards to land area, but due the triangle shapes, makes the usable area a lot smaller than what we would have hoped for. Planning for the garden and landscaping will be the next obstacle.

Shot taken from the corner end of the garden. A nice verandah all around, with a balcony that can be accessed from a staircase that leads up from the garden.

A shot of the side garden with the garden door that we jumped across to gain access to the house. A bit of an odd shape, we are figuring out how best to make use of the garden with regards to the landscape plans.

The roof of the house has the standard arabian flat roof design. This looks like it can actually be used for something useful, a roof picnic area or even an outdoor garage.

There is a military airfield nearby, perhaps a good place to spot them making approaches. I hoe they dont fly that often!

We were explaining to the kids about how this is the new house and that we will be moving in soon and all that. There are 4 rooms upstairs with a nice family room. Linda wants the kids to sleep in separate rooms and one set aside for guests. I however think that the kids are too young to sleep on their own, but at least the family room will be a nice place to have as a study cum kids play room.

We will have the same families living on either side as the ones we have now, the Germans on the right and the French on the left. Viva la difference!
