Sharjah Wildlife Center

Today’s a weekend, which in UAE is on a Friday and Saturday. Decided to make the best of the kids being around and planned to visit the Wildlife center in Sharjah. Alan and family were also coming so that was great as the kids would have company.

We left after friday prayers as the place on opens after 2 on a friday.

The wildlife center was around 30 mins from our place and the drive down was pretty nice. The center charges 15dhs per adult, but the kids get in free, which is a very nice change for this place where entertainment areas are so expensive.

There was 3 different sections, the Kids Farm, the wildlife center and the natural history museum. We started at the Kids Farm first, which had all the petting zoo type of animals, but it was also in an open area. Thus the heat was really unbearable and after a few minutes there, we chased the kids back to the car.

After about 3 minutes, the kids were asking for their Juice. That was how hot it was, possibly around 45-48C.

While the 'older' kids were busy slurping down their juices, poor little baby Jordan had nothing to suck on but his tiny little toes!

The Wildlife center was about 200m away from the children’s farm. An enclosed building, air-conditioned and pretty large. There were various sections, lizards, snakes, birds, leopards, gazelles, etc etc. Basically all the various animals that you can find in the desert environment. It also had a nice little restaurant in the middle over looking the wadi field. So we had some nice tea and spring rolls while looking at the flamingoes and desert deers.

Unfortunately, the center does not allow cameras, so no pictures of the inside is included, only the outside shot of entrance during the departure time. We were both invited to Busri’s place, so the Natural History Museum will have to wait for the next visit!

Dont let the front fool you, its actually a very nice, air conditioned zoo.

We then went across to Silicon Oasis for Aishah’s birthday makan-makan. Some pretty nice mee singapore was there. Linda brought some mee goreng, so, we had hot tea with 2 different types of mee!
